Very pleased with hotel

Room was clean and adequately stocked. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Easy walk to the Forum. Good breakfast with plenty of variety.

Good Food But Spotty Service

Ok, I have very mixed feelings about my experience here. Our server wasn’t the worst waiter in Rome but could be in the conversation. It took him 20 minutes and one reminder to get out our bottle of wine and put it on the bar, along with two glasses. Time went on and waitresses took the glasses for themselves and went off to the patio. Another ten minutes and another reminder finally got us the bottle that had been sitting ten feet away-30 minutes after asking.
The food was pretty good. Arriabatta had an excellent sauce but clearly had been sitting and was headed towards cold on arrival. The carbonara was a version that I’d had before where the guanciale was sprinkled on top of the pasta. The waiter at this point had stormed outside in a fit over something and waitresses eyed each other in surprise. He returned and rapidly spit out his tale too fast to translate. Another waiter noticed all this and decided to take over our table. Finally my veal saltimbocca showed up. I’ve had better and had worse, a little overcooked. The new waiter thanked us for our patience during all this, and offered up free house made Genziana as a peace offering. It was excellent.

Lots of locals were here and few tourists, so they must be doing something right. I’d say give it a try if you can’t get in anywhere else.
