Very busy outside and a bit disorganised when queuing, likely due to the numbers attending. You cannot get in before your time and join a secondary queue while waiting. Inside the ancient artifact section is long and at times it is unclear which direction to go. However some of the exhibits are very good (and old). The Raphael rooms are amazing and you should not miss. Incredibly crowded in the map and tapastry rooms, but the tapastry ceiling is fantastic. I have left another review of the sistine chapel, which is a must do.
Amazing collections, deserving of a full day or maybe more, BUT visitor numbers and throughput have been prioritised over visitor experience. In short fabulous things to see but a poor visitor experience, so doesn't feel good value despite the quality of the exhibits.
