This place is incredible.
Walking down the streets and going into the houses of the people alive at the time and looking at the decorations on the walls that they looked at is an amazing experience and very moving.
Go early (in summer especially) and get a guided tour.
For me it was a big disappointment to realize that big statues which you can see online are not actually there. The others were tiny. Expectations vs reality kind of thing. To watch ruins at +40 it’s really not worth it.
With the reputation of the site I had high expectations. The site delivered as all was fascinating with the history and the scenery. It is a good walk , but well worth it.
