TOUR DESCRIPTION

Your expert, local guide will share the history of this magical city as you first visit Teatro La Fenice and the Scala del Bovolo. You will then venture down winding alleyways and explore the hidden “campi” (squares) as you get away from the crowds and off the beaten path. Your guide will take you to a small dock where you will have the perfect view of the Grand Canal and the famous Rialto Bridge. After the Venice walking tour concludes, you will be introduced to your gondolier. Relax in your gondola and float past the sun-soaked buildings, reflecting on the tour and begin to see Venice in a whole new light!

Enjoy the picturesque beauty of Venice
The first stop on your tour is Teatro La Fenice, a world-famous opera house. After a few twists and turns down winding alleyways, you come upon the Scala del Bovolo, the stunning combination of Renaissance, Gothic, and Venetian-Byzantine elements make this ornate, spiral staircase a highlight of the tour. With surprises awaiting you around nearly every corner, Venice is sure to win your heart.
A famous theater and a stunning staircase
The world-famous opera house, Teatro La Fenice, which can seat over 1,000 people is the first stop after meeting your guide. Named after the phoenix, a mythical bird that rose from the ashes, the theater did just that when it was reconstructed after a devastating fire in 1836. Your guide then takes you to the Scala del Bovolo, the ornate staircase that resembles its Italian namesake, the snail. As you explore the history of this magical city, you discover that Venice is as fascinating as it is beautiful.
Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge on your way to meet your gondolier
As you walk along quiet canals and happen upon secluded campi (squares), you get a rare glimpse of the local lifestyle. You then make your way to the famous Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge area. Home to a myriad of shops, the main attraction of this neighborhood (and in all of Venice, for that matter) is the marvelous Rialto Bridge. With a perfect vantage point from the docks nearby, be sure to have your camera ready!
The beauty and fame of the luxurious gondola ride
Your guide then takes you to meet your gondolier and help you get settled into your gondola (shared boats that hold up to six people). This relaxing journey takes you down tranquil canals and past picturesque bankside palaces. With this foolproof way to escape the crowds, you can enjoy the luxurious atmosphere that makes Venice so unique. With its elegant and graceful design, the gondola is a true symbol of Venice. The twisting Grand Canal can be seen in the “S” shape of the iron prow-head, and the six sestieri (districts) of the city are represented by the six prongs that jut forward. Combined, they create an elegant balance to the weight of the gondolier as he navigates you through the sparkling canals.
