Your Vatican Tour guide will give you the history of the beautiful art held within the Vatican Museums as well as the interpersonal relationships between the popes, the artists and influential citizens. There is always much more than meets the eye.

With literally thousands of pieces to see during the Vatican Museum Tour, your guide will introduce you to classical sculptures, like the Belvedere Torso that inspired Michelangelo. The breathtaking immensity and beauty of the Raphael Rooms are not to be missed as well as a view overlooking the Vatican Gardens. TRAVEL TIPS

  • Know where you are going. Check the Vatican Museums entrance location and Vatican Museums hours in order to make sure you arrive at your correct meeting point and have enough time to visit the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel.
  • Always make sure to wear comfortable shoes in Rome. This doesn’t mean the shoes can’t be stylish but keep in mind that you will be walking on cobblestone streets, marble staircases and uneven pavement.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. The Vatican Museum's entrance requires that you cover your knees and shoulders. A fashionable scarf that can cover your shoulders is the perfect accessory when walking around Rome in the summer.
  • Multiple tours may be better than one long tour. Instead of booking a full day of tours that visit multiple attractions, spread the tours out throughout your stay in Rome.
  • Make sure you are charged. Nothing is worse than your phone or camera running out of battery in the middle of your Vatican Museums tour. Bring an external charger just in case.
  • Check the Vatican Museums hours and the map of Rome when booking your tours. Arranging your tours and itinerary will save you loads of time and you won’t be constantly traveling from one side of the city to the other.
  • Don’t book tours back to back because you may want to spend more time in the Vatican Museum. Avoid the stress of rushing from one tour to the next by allowing ample time in between tours.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

  • Security at the Vatican Museums has been increased and visitors are required to pass through a metal detector and scan their belongings.
  • Only bring what you plan to carry. While the Vatican Museums do provide luggage storage, it is located at the entrance and you may have to retrace your steps to get back to the storage area. Of course, if it is absolutely necessary, you can use the Vatican Museums luggage storage. Just be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to retrieve your bags.
